Why do we learn to "start at the beginning"? That is the only way things make sense. Do you read a book or story or watch a movie from end to beginning, or middle to end? And if you do, what happens? Important information is missing without which you can't grasp the full meaning of the story. God meant for us to start at the beginning of the Bible, Genesis, in order to grasp the full meaning of all that follows. Genesis is the bedrock the entire Bible is built upon!
Can we believe the Bible, every word, in the original text? YES! MUST we believe every word? YES! (..and this is so much harder, when we can't pick and choose, embrace what is wonderful and ignore what is uncomfortable or downright painful!) Well, but how about those 6 days to create everything, surely that can't be true, so other things are up for interpretation, too, right? Personally, I don't think so.
